# VALUE Function

## Overview

The VALUE function returns a number from text.

For example,

=VALUE("100"

Converts the text "100" into the number 100. The number can then be used in arithmetic and aggregations functions, as well as comparisons with other numbers.

The Java engine can handle numbers of any size. The .NET engine (and AutoTag) are limited to 64-bit integers : -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807.
