Importing HTML Documents

You can import documents, images, sub-reports, and other files using the import tag or the out tag.

When you import content with the import tag, you specify the location of the content, such as a URL or file path. For more information on the import tag, see Import Tag documentation.

When you import content using the out tag, the content is pulled directly from your data source. For more information on the out tag, see the Out Tag documentation.

Importing HTML

You can import HTML tags to format your document or add text, tables, images, etc. The imported HTML does not have to be a complete document. For example, you can import a <b> tag to make bold text, and later import a </b> tag to end the bold text region.

When importing HTML content, make sure you set the 'type' attribute to 'TEMPLATE'.

Paragraphs imported with the <p> tag can have a style applied to them from the master template. To apply the style, set the 'class' attribute of the <p> tag to the name of the style, for example, <p class="Heading 1">.

Note to programmers: Normally, if a style is not used in the master template, then the Windward Reports engine will remove it. If you would like to use such a style with the <p> tag, use the ProcessReport.setRemoveUnusedFormats() method to disable this behavior.

HTML Fragments

AutoTag HTML facilities are designed to enable fragments of HTML to be processed as sub-reports. See HTML Fragments.
