Could not create registry key on startup

You get the following message when Office starts

Could not create registry key:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Security\Trusted Protocols\All Applications\wddp:
Drill-down will not work.
Error: The operation was canceled by user.

Note: The 15.0 may be any value from 10.0 to 15.0 (Office version). The error message may be different.

To resolve this, you need to add the listed key to the registry. This requires a user with permissions to write to this part of the registry. If you have Office 2013, you need to add the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Security\Trusted Protocols\All Applications\wddp:

You do not need to add an values in the key, just the key itself. This key tells Windows to pass all Windward drill down links to Windward for resolution. This is needed for the drill-down functionality in AutoTag.

You can run this file (policy.reg) and it will create the registry keys for all version of Office (there is no downside to setting this for versions not installed).
