Running the Java Swing Example


This shows how to use Windward Reports in a Java GUI with Swing.

Open the Basic Swing Form Project

  1. Open Trebuchet. (Found under Start -> All Programs -> Windward Studios -> Windward Reports Java Engine -> Trebuchet - Windward Sample Programs)
  2. In the Trebuchet Menu, click the Basic Swing Sample Tab.
  3. Click the Basic Swing Sample IntelliJ Project File button.

Run the code

1.       On the toolbar on the top of the IntelliJ window, click the run icon.

Note: If you get an error message stating ‘Cannot start compiler: the SDK is not specified for module “Variable”’, your Java Development Kit is not correctly configured with IntelliJ. See our documentation on installing and Configuring IntelliJ for assistance.

Note: You may need to edit the Project settings to update the library paths to locations specific to your machine.  To do this, go to File > Project Structure, then in the Modules tab select the red jar files and find the correct location.

2.       Press “Run XML Report” or one of the other three Run Report buttons

3.       In the Swing Form tab in Trebuchet, click Source Directory.

4.       Open the Report Test.pdf file and enjoy the results!

5.       To use IntelliJ GUI designer double click “SwingForm.form”
