Overview

The short answer is yes.

Resolution

QUESTION:

Our SQL database does not have "any foreign keys you could recognize" when linking through Windward.  We cannot see foreign or primary key relationships in the Data Bin/Tag Editor/Data Source Connection windows.  Does Windward have the ability to use a view of tables in its interface?

ANSWER:

The short answer is yes, windward reads in all foreign and primary key relationships.  We do not display those foreign and primary keys in the Windward interface as it would confuse our users.  However, when you connect to a database there is a “Read in Metadata” option that you can check that will allow the Windward code to read in all foreign and primary key relationships.  This is used in the SQL Wizard to facility the automatic joining of different tables in the database.

Important:  The read in metadata only works for certain SQL databases at the moment.  Since your e-mail did not specify which type I am assuming he is using a Microsoft SQL Server.

Windward can view tables, views, and stored procedures in the data connection, data bin, and tag editor interface windows.
